10 signs to look for ...

The most common telltale signs of male menopause include:

  • A substantial decrease in general sex drive.
  • Lack of energy.
  • Decrease in strength and endurance.
  • A significantly decreased enjoyment in life.
  • Sadness, irritability.
  • Erections less strong.
  • Deterioration in sporting ability.
  • Falling asleep after dinner.
  • Decreased work performance.
  • Loss of overweight and muscle mass being replaced by fat.

Other factors which can bring on male menopause early include viral infections, injuries to the testes, heavy smoking, chemotherapy, diabetes and heart disease.

Dr Oscar Horky says, "There also appears to be a high association between hypogonadism (low testosterone production) and vasectomies some 10 to 15 years after the operation."
