HAPPINESS
There's
a 1-in-29 chance the average man will suffer from depression this year
Four tips to prevent your life turning into a Meryl Streep movie:
Watch the blood pressure
While reviewing 20 years of data, researchers at the Centre for Disease
Control and Prevention in the US, found a strong and unexplained link
between depression and high blood pressure.
Consider taking fish oil
A study found that 30 people suffering from depression who took 9.6g
of fish oil a day, received the same benefits as those typically experienced
with prescription medication. You'll find 9.6g in 15 cans of tuna, but
don't panic because it's condensed in pill form tool. Fish-oil supplements
also fight arterial plaque, so talk to your doctor about taking them
as a preventative measure.
Take more holidays
Doctors think that elevated levels of the stress hormone cortisol may
be a cause of depression, not just a symptom. That's a good reason to
avoid situations that prompt your brain to produce cortisol, events
such as arguments, in-laws and work hassles. Lastly, find out when
your material grandfather died
According to one study, if he died young, (say, before age 60), you
face a much higher statistical risk of developing clinical depression
than the average man.
