Work
out the optimum amount of time you should spend on work for maximum
porductivity and healthy home life. Find a balance.
Don't
feel guilty when you are at work. Work hard but stay connected to
the children. Give them access to you. They should have your mobile
number and be able to call you. Access makes children feel special.
Stay
connected, even if work means you travel away from your children.
Send e-mails and photos.
Explain
your work to your children. If you're building a dam, explain why
the place needs water so they have some sense of ownership of what
you do.
Take
your children with you - one at a time - when you travel for work.
Children will feel special that their dad bothers to do that with
them.
ASK YOURSELF
How
many minutes a day do you give your children your undivided attention?
Where do your children fit on your priority list in relation to the
things work gives you?
Where do they fit in to leisure time and friends?
What would you be prepared to sacrifice for your children?
Do you show your children that it is not a chore for you to be with
them?
